Pittsburgh Theological Seminary is a graduate professional institution of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Founded in 1794, the Seminary is located in Pittsburgh, Pa., and annually enrolls approximately 310 students in its degree programs. The Seminary prepares pastors and Christian leaders who proclaim with great joy God’s message of good news in both word and deed. PTS is scripturally grounded, broadly Reformed, ecumenically minded, and culturally relevant.

The Seminary offers the Master of Divinity degree with a certificate in urban ministry and a concentration in church planting. Additionally, the joint degree programs combine the M.Div. with an additional degree from local universities in the areas of law, social work, and public policy. PTS awards Master of Arts degrees including a special track emphasizing religious education. Other students earn in the Master of Sacred Theology degree as well as the Doctor of Ministry degree with five areas of  focus: Parish, Reformed, Eastern Christian, Science and Theology, and Reformed Christian Spirituality.

In the Community ...

During Orientation, students worked in the Garfield Community Farm, a project of The Open Door Presbyterian Church, in partnership with Valley View Presbyterian Church.

The Farm, started by a Pittsburgh Seminary graduate, supports organic gardening on abandoned or unused land in East Liberty and Garfield.
